Meal Periods and Rest Breaks

Employees who work at least six hours must receive a 30-minute break, unless the nature of the job allows for frequent breaks. Failure to provide a 30-minute break is a violation of Tennessee wage and hour law.

Payment of Wages

Private employees must be paid at least twice a month. Tennessee employers must establish regular paydays and post these dates in at least two conspicuous areas of the workplace.

Final Wages

Employees who are terminated or who quit must receive their last paycheck in full by the next regularly scheduled payday, not to exceed 21 days from the date of separation.
