Michigan wage and hour law applies to employers with two or more workers who are 16 years of age or older. If an employee is covered by federal and state minimum wage law, they are entitled to the higher minimum wage.
Effective July 24, 2009, the minimum wage in Michigan is $7.40 for workers 16 years of age or older. Certain workers under the age of 16 may be paid 80% of the Michigan minimum wage.
